Who controls your data
Halal Souq Kenya operates this website and acts as the data controller for information collected through it. Privacy questions and data-subject requests can be sent to support@halalsouq.co.ke or +254 716 327 767.
Data we collect
We collect information you provide and limited technical information needed to operate the site.
- Name, telephone number, optional email and delivery details supplied at checkout.
- Order items, prices, payment method, support messages and order references.
- Vehicle enquiry details and the listing that prompted the enquiry.
- Cart data stored in your browser, consent preferences and essential session information.
- Anonymous daily counters for public page views and commerce events. These counters contain no visitor identifier, cookie, IP address or fingerprint.
- Optional Google Analytics attribution information only when configured and you have consented.
Why and how we use it
We process data to take steps you request, perform and administer orders, coordinate delivery, answer enquiries, prevent fraud, secure the service, keep required business records and comply with law. Where optional analytics or marketing is enabled, we rely on consent and allow you to withhold it.
Sharing and WhatsApp
We share only what is reasonably necessary with delivery providers, hosting and database providers, payment providers, professional advisers and public authorities where legally required. Choosing WhatsApp checkout or a chat link sends the message and information you choose to WhatsApp/Meta, whose own privacy terms then apply. Do not include payment credentials or unnecessary sensitive data in a chat.
International transfers and security
Some technology providers may process data outside Kenya. We will use providers and safeguards appropriate to applicable Kenyan data-protection requirements. We use access controls, secure transport, restricted credentials and data minimisation, but no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and your rights
We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the stated purpose, legal obligations, dispute handling and legitimate record keeping, then delete or anonymise it. Subject to applicable law, you may request information about processing, access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability, and may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Complaints and legal basis
Contact us first so we can investigate. You may also complain to Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. This notice is intended to reflect the Data Protection Act, 2019 and applicable regulations.
